Having a baby is the most wondrous event that many of us will ever witness or participate in. Bringing a new person in to the world is truly a miracle that only nature has the answer for. But when your baby arrives the joys that your little bundle bring are also mixed with so many worries and things to think about. It really is a non stop process having a baby, feeding, resting, cleaning, worrying, playing and comforting but all the stress and strain is more than rewarded by the amount of love and joy that your new arrival brings to your life.
So how do you begin to get some order into your life after the arrival of your baby? The first thing you need to do is think of a name for your newborn child. Do you choose to go with a classical biblical name that will always stand the test of time? Or do you go with a more up to date trendy and fashionable name that may well go off like a bad bottle of wine. This is one of the less stressful decisions that you will have to make but it could be a pretty life changing one.
A report from an American university found that people that were given names of the day were less likely to hold down a job with great prospects when they grew up, whereas children that were give the more orthodox classical name had a greater chance of succeeding in life. There may or may not be any truth in this study but there is always the old saying “what’s in a name”.
Babies tend to fall in to two definite groups when they are still very young, is your baby is fun or fussy but whatever group they fall in to your new arrival will be most definitely a fascinating creature. How you intend to stimulate your baby in its early months can have massive repercussions as your child grows up. Some people believe that by letting your new borne child listen to nothing but classical music and university lectures you can program him or her to develop the part of the brain that tunes into studying and hence gives them a better chance of gaining a good education as they will be better at studying. To counter this there is a totally separate group that believe that the best way to bring a child up is to let him or her be totally free of any form of educational rigour and enjoy their childhood to the maximum as there will be plenty of time for rules and regulations when they grow up. Granted this is a very extreme philosophy but there are certain cases where people swear that it has worked for them.
For these children life is just one big baby shower of giving baby gifts, with friends coming over to play instead of going to school for seven hours a day and simply being educated in the ways of life by making mistakes. For many of the parent the biggest choice they will have to make is what baby shower cake to buy each week. Whichever way you choose to bring your child up as long as your baby is happy and grows up safe then you’ve done a good job.
