Choose a small object to place in a normally stressful environment, like your workplace or car. This could be a little doll or toy or picture. Look at it frequently and as you do, consciously relax. Take a deep breath in as you look at your “relaxer”. You are training your brain each time you do this. Your brain is a very efficient organ. It takes two previously unrelated items or emotions or events and if you deliberately place them together in your brain (pair them up), it thinks you have a “package deal”. You have paired up the feeling of relaxation with your object. This object now becomes a trigger for you to relax in your subconscious mind.
